Further notes on the text
n 1.Last week I went to the theatre.
课文中go to the theatre = go to the theatre to see a play,即去剧场看戏。类似的还有go to the cinema = go to the cinema to see a film(去电影院看电影)。
n go to school上学
n go to bed上床,睡觉
n go to church上教堂,去做礼拜(参考第1册第68课at school, at church;第1册第85课have been to school/church)
n
n 2.had a very good seat,座位很好。
n the front seat of a car汽车的前座
n Take a seat, please.
n 请坐。
n
n 3.The play was very interesting.
n This is an interesting book/idea.
n
n 4.…were sitting behind me. They were talking loudly. …
n
n 5.I got very angry.
而I was very angry则仅表示当时的状态是生气,并不暗示过程。
n
n 6.in the end,
n She tried hard to finish her homework by herself. In the end, she had to ask her brother for help.
n
n 7.none of your business,
n It is my business to look after your health.
n This is none of his business.
n (2)表示否定的代词none意义上相当于not any或no one,但语气较强:
n She kept none of his letters.
n None of my friends left early.
n None of your silly remarks!
n
n 8.a private conversation,私人间的谈话。
n 在西方文化中人们对private(私人的,个人的)这个概念很看重。 所以课文中的小伙子会 振振有词地说“This is a private conversation!”

动词必须与主语“一致”,所以主语决定动词的单复数形式(如I am, you are, he has)。
n Last night Lucy went to the theatre.
n I heard a voice at the door just now.
n Sam listened to the story quietly.
n The man ran away quickly.

Word study
n 1.enjoy vt.
n
n (1)Did you enjoy the movie last night?
